Winter Blues

The background paper is really the star of this card. I have had it in my paper stash now for 10 years, and it has been with me through two complete household moves, so it’s seen some things!

I decided this was the year this paper was getting used. It’s too gorgeous to continue sitting on the shelf. So, I came up with a simple card design that featured this paper in the background and used a simple sentiment die on top.

I struggled a bit with the die because, after cutting it out, I embossed it with Stampendous embossing powder in Stardust. The problem was that this embossing powder is really just transparent with glitter in it, and it didn’t stand out enough on the front of the card. So, I re-inked the die in versamark and embossed it in silver. But then I lost the glitter part. So, I re-inked over the silver with the Stardust embossing powder again, and voila – silver and glitter…it doesn’t get much better than that.

Here’s a close up of that embossed die cut.
