Three Feathers

I got the idea for the design of this card from a similar card created by Jennifer McGuire as part of a technique video for Faux Metallic Embellishments. Her original video can be seen here.

I really liked the metallic embellishments overlaid on kraft cardstock, so I chose a feather die from Dynamics and embossing powder in silver, gold and copper. I cut my feathers from black cardstock and then using Versamark and embossing powder I did three layers of embossing on each feather. This just made a thicker, smoother application of the embossing powder than one coat would have.

I also used the water droplet technique instead of Versamark on my background to apply embossing powder droplets all over the kraft cardstock.

I stamped a sentiment from the Technique Tuesday Budding Poppies stamp set on black cardstock and adhered that with some foam tape over the bottom of the row of feathers.

I love how I could use this card for my sister or best friend, or for my Dad for Father’s Day! It’s really versatile and striking.

This card also meets this weeks theme for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is “Metallic”. If you’re a card maker, head over to their weekly challenge blogs and join the fun.
