Surf’s Up

I just can’t get enough of these cute little Frenchie stamps from Simon Says Stamp. This one is the Chillin Frenchies and it’s full of awesome summer fun stamps.

I stamped my image on some Spectrum Noir Premium Ultra Smooth cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured him in using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. Then I chose several different colours of blue cardstock, and a few in kraft/tan, and cut them using different curvatures to create layered waves and sand.

I used the My Favorite Things Radiating Rays stencil and blended some Distress Oxide Ink in Wild Honey on the background to create a nice sunny sky for my little surfer dog. Then a placed my waves and sand on layer by layer until I got the ocean and beach the way I wanted. I even added some Spectrum Noir Sparkle shimmer pen over the ocean waves to make them sparkle in the sun.

Then I placed my surfer on top, riding his waves to the shoreline. To add some extra interest, I stamped a seashell border stamp called PSX C-604, coloured them in using my alcohol markers, and fussy cut them out. Then I randomly placed them on the sand.

Since this card was a birthday card for a friend of my son’s, I let him pick out the “Hey Friend, surfs up” sentiment, also from the Chillin’ Frenchies set.
