I have always struggled a bit trying to use up patterned paper. I love it, I horde it, and sometimes I don’t like to cut it – always worried that I should save it for a special project. And then I came up with a plan. I would buy one paper collection and a package or two of coordinating embellishments – in this case tags and frames. I would create card bases, using these papers, and then use my stamps and dies to add focal points as needed.
I specifically purchased the Carta Bella Christmas Market paper collection to put my “new-to-me” idea in motion. Using patterned paper in the background actually makes card making a really quick process – great when you have a bunch of Christmas cards to make but don’t want to make them all the same. So I chose two complimentary patterned papers from the line and placed them on my card base. I used a small piece of ribbon, from a Christmas collection long past, and then placed my cluster of pine trees slightly off center in the middle.
A few additional embellishments, like a snowflake punch, a few sprigs of holiday greenery from the Memory Box Glowing Candles, a sentiment banner and a few Nuvo Crystal Drops in white and I was well on my way to inspiration for my Holiday card making.
