Hot Cocoa

I have been hoarding the BoBunny Snowfall paper collection for quite a few years now, reluctant to cut any of that glorious, glitter accented paper. Every year I would pull it out during my Holiday card making, flip through every page, and then put it back on the shelf, saving it for the perfect idea. Well this year that idea came. The fabulous colour combos in this paper – rich browns, soft beige and teal blues – were really the inspiration behind this card, because they remind me so much of chocolate covered Christmas treats.

I started with a new-to-me die from My Favorite Things called Hot Cocoa Cups. I cut the mugs out of some navy blue Bazzill cardstock and then shaded the edges with some Distress Ink in Chipped Sapphire. I used a little glitter to sparkle up the whipped cream topping (also from the Hot Cocoa Cups die set) and added that on top of the cups of cocoa. To add a little more holiday cheer, I cut a small white snowflake using the Impression Obsession Small Snowflakes Dies to decorate each mug.

I built the rest of the card using a kraft card base, covered with one of the patterned papers from the Snowfall collection. On top of that I used another, smaller piece of a coordinating patterned paper, matted on top of a navy cardstock. I wrapped that smaller square piece a few times with some kraft and navy striped bakers twine from My Mind’s Eye, and then I used a few pop up dots to adhere my cups of steaming hot, delicious cocoa.
