It’s no secret that masculine cards are a challenge for me. Last year I was so creatively blocked that I bought my Dad’s birthday card from the store, and I got some flack for it. So this year I decided to get prepared and get inspired early. After surfing through some pinterest boards and various card ideas for inspiration, I finally came up with my design idea.
I pulled out a really old stamp set from JustRite papercrafts called Anchors Away. It’s an old favourite for masculine cards. I stamped that on some Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock so I could stamp, ink blend, and colour with alcohol markers. Then I fussy cut the layers of the stamp and popped them up for more dimension.
I used two different pattern papers for the background, both more neutral or masculine patterns. I added a bit of twine and a sentiment and this birthday card was ready to hit the waves!
