The design of this card was inspired by a card Kristina Werner made for her 2017 Holiday Card Series. You can Kristina’s original card in this video.
I didn’t have the same stamp set as Kristina at the time, so I decided to use the same idea of a row of characters with a sentiment below on the baseline. And of course, I loved the little strip of glitter cardstock, which adds just the right amount of sparkle to this relatively simple design.
I started by stamping my little plushie christmas characters on some Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I coloured them in using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. This paper always gives a great marker blend, so if I’m going to colour it’s my “go to” cardstock. Below my little row of characters I also stamped the card sentiment in the same Memento ink.
I trimmed down my focal point and then layered all the pieces together, starting with a white card base, followed by a layer of red cardstock, my striped patterned paper, the thin strip of glitter cardstock, and then my large stamped piece.
Super simple, lots of fun, and it makes a great one-layer card that’s easy to mail without requiring extra postage. So much cuteness!
