In August 2020, Simon Says Stamp released a card kit that featured the Doodlebug Bar-B-Cute collection. I loved it so much, but at the time I wasn’t a card kit subscriber – something I remedied shortly after! I decided to order the 6×6 paper pad and a few of the collection elements so I could create some cards of my own – inspired by so many of the fabulous designers Simon Says Stamp featured with the launch of their kit.
I really wanted to show off the colourful papers with my cards, so I created a background and frame combo for my card base. From the Odds & Ends pack, I chose a selection of soda pop die cuts to feature on top. I did learn that the Odds & Ends pack are better suited to scrapbook layouts rather than A2 cards, as they’re a little bit large. That said, I challenged myself to use several of them in my card designs.
To compliment all the fabulous images from this collection, I decided to print my own sentiment strips. I chose a variety of sayings and different fonts and just printed them out on my printer. While I left this sentiment white, I can easily colour my strips with my alcohol markers to match my design as needed – and you’ll see that with some other cards I made from this collection that will be coming up in the next few posts!
