Postage Stamp Large Green Christmas Tree Cards

Nichol Spohr is one of my favourite online card makers, and I was inspired to make this card from a design she made during Simon Says Stamps Stamptember celebration. You can view her original here. Now I went in a different direction, choosing to use the techniques she shared to make a Christmas card rather than a floral, but the idea behind the card is the same.

First I heat embossed my tree in white ink on Strathmore Bristol Cardstock. Then I did all my ink blending using Distress Oxide inks in a variety of greens. Next, I stamped over it using Hero Arts Unicorn ink. An important note: when stamping in white, particularly with pigment ink, let it dry… for a while! This stuff takes some time, especially if you’re layering it. I learned the hard way when I smudged my background and had to re-do it! Lesson learned.

Nichol is notorious for layering, and while it can take a while, I think the results are really stunning without being overpowering. I love the way this turned out, and I’m sure I’ll be doing this technique again in the future.
