Large Snowflake Ornaments Christmas Cards

These cards were so much fun, I made three different versions. The best part though was getting to play with the new Distress Mica Sprays from Tim Holtz and Ranger. The colours are so vibrant and the shimmer is amazing.

For each card, I stamped the large round snowflake stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Don’t Flurry, Be Happy stamp set on watercolour cardstock, and then cut them out using a circle die. Then I used the distress mica sprays and a watercolour brush to manipulate the ink on the ornament. I wanted to create highlights and shadow, which sort of worked. I’m relatively new to watercolour, so this was a bit of an experiment.

Once I was happy with the ornaments, I embossed some white cardstock with the Simon Says Stamp Fir Tree Branches embossing folder. Some I accented with ink, others I left all white. I used this panel as the background for each of my cards and just put the ornaments on top.

I added a foiled sentiment using my Spellbinders glimmer machine, with matching foil plate and dies. They turned out just lovely.
