I’ve been experimenting a lot with 6×6 cards lately. I love how it give me a bit more card front real estate to feature patterned paper or a really great stamp. It uses up more cardstock and paper, so I don’t do it often, but in cases like this card, the increased size really suits the design better.
Again I’m featuring my two-step feather stamp set from Hot Off the Press and pairing it with the Authentique paper line Genuine. I had originally bought this paper line to make scrapbook pages for my son, since it has such a masculine feel. And while I have used it for those pages, there is still a lot of paper left over for cards – total win!
This card began with just the white strip and feather stamp. Then I went through my paper stacks to decide what patterned paper I wanted to pair this with. I chose two papers from the Genuine line. I often like to use matching but different patterns on my cards because it makes them interesting. Then I pulled out the bright yellow cardstock to use as an accent colour, and I think it really makes the subtle yellow in the paper pop.
However, the card was lacking a bit of dimension and interest, so I added the second feather, popped up slightly using foam tape, as well as the small navy blue tag hidden behind the sentiment so that it stood out a bit more. And I love how this card could be used for both a male or female recipient.
