I wanted to make some simple cards using up some of the beautiful papers I’ve been hording in my craft room for some time.
These two cards feature beautiful papers from the K&Company TC Cottage Garden collection. The hydrangea pattern is a stunning blue and the paper has a nice transparent glitter finish that makes them sparkle and shine.
The idea for this card came from Jessica Frost-Ballas and a card she designed using just a strip of a background stamp that she coloured in – you can see her original card here ». I thought I could translate that to patterned paper rather than a stamp, so I decided to give it a try.
For the first card I used a straight cut, and for the second I decided to jazz it up using a curved cut. In both instances I used the patterned paper as the base layer and built on top of it the “window”. It’s the opposite of Jessica’s version, but I still like the effect.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the thank you and shadow sentiment and then used a little tiny words stamp below to finish it off. Simple, easy, striking!
