Hey all! Sorry I’ve been absent for a few weeks, but I pulled some muscles in my lower back that made sitting and working in my craft room a bit painful. That said, I’m on the mend and ready to share!
For this card I used my trusty Silhouette Cameo to cut out the 6 heart shapes in a heavy weight white cardstock. Then I put a sheet of acetate on the back. I knew I wanted to alternate shaker hearts and coloured hearts, so I put three squares of red glitter cardstock on my base, where the first 3 hearts would show. Then I used a good amount of foam tape to square off the hearts for my glitter as well as all around the edge of the full square.
Now here was the fun part, pouring all the glitter mix into the little area I had left for glitter! It took some patience and a fine set of tweezers to tame all that sparkle, but eventually I got it all in the little windows.
I secured the whole thing to a white card base with that foam tape, and then I got stumped. I didn’t know how to finish the front. It sat for a while on my desk, and a whole lot of trial and error later, I ended up using two die cut flourishes, a bright sparkly heart chipboard piece, and a small sentiment strip.
I absolutely love the interactivity of the shaker card. My only regret is that I think I could have used more glitter, but I’m always afraid of using too much. Like there is such a thing as too much glitter!
I’m hanging onto this card for a while, as I’m setting it aside for a special wedding we’ll be attending later this summer!
