First, I have to say that the quality of this Carta Bella Christmas Market paper line is amazing. In addition to being absolutely beautiful designs, the paper is a really thick, heavy weight, slightly textured stock. Using them just help to make a really great holiday greeting for friends and family.
For this card I chose a very graphic patterned paper in the watercolour poinsettias. Using my Silhouette Cameo, I cut out the word “Merry” in a nice bold font. I then cut the same letters out three more times in a hunter green cardstock. I stacked all the letters together with the poinsettia patterned versions on top.
Now, with the letters complete, I layered all the pieces together. I used some hunter green cardstock behind a full piece of the poinsettia patterned paper. Then I layered a strip of white cardstock on top to make my letters really stand out.
I added a stamped sentiment from the My Favorite Things Bitty Holiday Wishes stamp set and a row of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Red Berry to add a little dimension. I decided to add a little bit of extra interest by placing some small holly die cut pieces in the top right and bottom left corners, peeking out from behind the middle stripe. They’re subtle, but add that little finishing touch that make this card even more special.
I really enjoyed this layered die cut letters technique and expect to try using it again for other holidays and themes in the future.
