Country Christmas Deer

The inspiration for this card started with the wood grain tag I used in the background. I had purchased these tags years ago from Michaels in the dollar bin and never used them. So I decided to venture from my glitter and foil staples and try something a little different.

I started with a strip of hunter plaid patterned paper from Recollections Holiday Lodge collection, because nothing says “country” like hunter plaid – am I right? I backed it with hunter green cardstock from Bazzil, to give each side a bit of a border. Then I turned my attention to the focal point.

I cut a large deer head in black cardstock from my Silhouette Cameo machine and laid it on top of the wood grain tag. But by itself, something was still missing, so I took the same hunter green cardstock as well as brown and cut out a few of the Memory Box Pinecone Corner dies. I cut them apart and used the pieces to add a bit of holiday greenery around the tag. It was just the touch that was needed.

Finally, I stamped a holiday sentiment in the bottom right corner of the kraft cardstock card base. I just love these cards that make me think of a snowed in log cottage nestled at the base of a big ski hill! Doesn’t that sound like a fabulous escape from the holiday hustle and bustle?
