Welcome Spring with a Coral Carnation – Greeting Card

I was inspired by the fabulous Yana Smakula and this card when I made this design. I varied quite a bit from her original design, but I really liked the monochrome background and pop of colour she created by only colouring one flower.

I began by stamping the Simon Says Stamp Pretty Peonies Background stamp in light grey ink. Then I stamped and embossed a single stem flower from the Beautiful Flowers 2 stamp set and coloured in the flower using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.

I stamped my sentiment in a strong black ink in the bottom right corner and then began my card assembly. I die cut a panel from the background I had stamped using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and mounted it on a piece of gold cardstock. Then I adhered that to my white card base. I attached my fussy cut floral to the left side and added some black Nuvo Crystal Drops for added visual interest.

I definitely need to work on my Nuvo Dots – but I have some tips from a great group of online crafters, so fingers crossed for next time!
