I decided to use my 18th century clothing pattern to make another steampunk tag, this time focusing on all the textured goodness of the background.
Clearly I liked this steampunk look so much I decided to make it twice. This time I really wanted to focus on the background tag and play with texture. I purchased some special art supplies in the form of glass bead gel and crackle paste to help with my distressed look. It took a lot of layers and a whole lot of trial and error, but I think I created something pretty interesting in the end. The little touches of gold paint that I used at the very end, to give just a whisper of shimmer, really put the finishing touch on.
