Vicky Papaioannou created a card for the Simon Says Stamp “Send Happiness” release using the Filigree Message Rounded Rectangular die – you can see her original card here. I loved the idea, but decided to take it to the next level by using multiple colours of glitter.
I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Folk Dance die from white cardstock. I took another piece of white cardstock, but to the same size, and covered it with a layer of Sookwang double sided paper. Then I adhered the Folk Dance die piece on top. This left the entire pattern of cutouts open but sticky, ready for some glittery fabulousness.
However, because I wanted to use different colours of glitter, I had to really put my purple tape to work. I covered each area that wasn’t going to get that colour with purple tape, spread my glitter and burnished it down, then moved onto the next area. Not only was it a bit labour intensive, but fine glitter gets everywhere. But is is soooo worth it! Pictures don’t do it justice, but the sparkle on this card front is just dazzling.
Not wanting to take away from the background, I chose to put a simple die cut and sentiment strip on the front with a few pearls. I had started shadowing the die cut with just vellum, but realized it didn’t pop quite enough, so I coloured the back of the vellum using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. Just enough colour to make the sentiment stand out, but subtle enough not to conflict with all the colours of the glitter.
I’m a huge fan of glitter, this is no secret, so this card gets top marks from me!
