I’m always trying to challenge myself and with this layout I tried to switch up my style. I started to test myself with more mixing colours and patterned papers, as well as using embellishments.
I took this photo during a weekend vacation to Pictou Lodge Resort. I love the bright colours and the ribbon match up on this layout, but I think my favourite part was the lettering for the title. I took some gold glitter alpha stickers from Making Memories and painted them tan, so when you touch them they feel like sand. And with the few faint touches of glitter that come through the paint, it really looks like sand too!
The sketch was from the June 2012 Sketchy Challenge at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. Sketch challenges are a great way to get your productivity going if you’re a little short on inspiration. And with so many sketch blogs out there to choose from, you can always find a layout you like. Just remember, they’re inspiration – you don’t have to follow the sketch exactly.
