I was inspired to make this card by the fabulous crafter Nichol Spohr. She made this beautiful bright floral die card and I wanted to try it with the dies and paper I had on hand.
I started by embossing the black card base using the Simon Says Stamp Wistful Leaves embossing folder. It just gives the background a little visual interest. Then I grabbed a bunch of different floral and greenery dies and cut them from a bunch of paper scraps in different colours. Once I had all the floral pieces it was just a matter of laying them out on the card to see where I wanted to place them.
Finally happy with the layout, I started to glue them all into place, tucking and adjusting as needed. Once they were all adhered I cut off any bits that were hanging over the edge.
For a sentiment, I finally pulled out the Spellbinders Glimmer machine I got for Christmas and tried my hand at Glimmer foiling. It turned out okay. I still need some play time to really get the Glimmer working how I think it should – more to come on that in a later video.
Overall I think it turned out really well, and think this would be a fun technique to do on other colours of dark cardstock, like chocolate brown or navy.
