Razzletini

I was inspired to create this card by another card, designed by Laura Bassen, from the Simon Says Stamp Good Vibes Release Blog Hop – you can see the original card here. I loved the circle cut outs and the combination of colours on her card.

I took mine in a bit of a different direction, creating a slimline card (my first slimline EVER). To get all the circles aligned, I used my Silhouette Cameo to layout and align the cuts perfectly. So much easier and faster than trying to measure everything out and line everything up using die cuts. Plus, it allowed me to really be exact with the size of my cut outs.

Then I heat embossed on a piece of Strathmore Bristol using clear embossing powder, and then blended over the top of each circle using two shades of Distress/Distress Oxide Inks. First up was Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon, followed by Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint, and finally Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet.

Once the background pieces were complete, I adhered them together and matted them onto a piece of Bazzill Sour Apple cardstock, and then adhered all those layers to a black card base.

Now the rhinestone stickers I have had for years. I picked them up on a super sale at Michaels and just never used them. Clearly they had been waiting for this idea – because they’re perfect. I put each glass in it’s own circle, and they really pop.

Lastly, I used the My Favorite Things Cheers die cut. I cut the shadow from the same Bazzill Sour Apple cardstock, and then put three layers of the black letters on top of each other to create dimension. Finally I stamped a small “Let’s Party” sentiment strip using the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words stamp set.

I absolutely love how this card came together. It was kind of the same idea I was going for with my Cheers to You card seen here, but this one turned out much better I think.
